Tax/Custom Lead Specialist

Jobholders at this level are experienced professionals capable of conducting work with general directions. They are primarily concerned with developing solutions to challenges which require some analysis to understand and resolve and addressing issues escalated from junior levels. They undertake complex operational activities, including revision of collected documents, preparing technical studies to come up with preliminary conclusions, assessments, and action plans of Indirect Tax & Customs settlement cases to submit to concerned committees..

Key Activities

Indirect Tax and Customs Studies

  • Collect, consolidate and register Indirect Tax & Customs settlement requests and accordingly prioritize/categorize them according to urgency and criticality
  • Request and gather appropriate documents from key stakeholders in relation to Indirect Tax requests that need hearing sessions, and accordingly archive them in database system
  • Review received data and documentation, conduct needed technical studies and assessments, and accordingly come up with preliminary conclusions
  • Develop consolidated study/assessment reports highlighting preliminary conclusions, results, and needed action plans of Indirect Tax & Customs settlement case and accordingly submit proposals for related committees
  • Develop Indirect Tax & Customs cases court hearing schedule with related traders/taxpayers to solve related lawsuits and disputes as well as answer any Tax related inquiries
  • Prepare notification form for presentation, final minutes, invoices, and declarations to report to taxpayers and implement final decisions issued by committee
  • Archive documents in the database system in line with archiving guidelines

Organization and Operations

  • Follow all relevant policies, processes, and standard operating procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
  • Help in solving escalated problems and provide needed support for junior team to ensure work is carried out in an efficient manner
  • Escalate complex problems to the relevant person to ensure cases/issues are closed properly
  • Perform other duties as requested

People Management

  • Train junior staff on the different job activities to ensure transfer of know-how, when applicable
  • Provide clear direction, prioritize tasks, assign and delegate responsibility, and monitor the workflow of subordinates/ junior staff
  • Support junior staff or direct reports in order to execute their duties according to set policies and processes



Knowledge and Experience

Education and Certifications


A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience

Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or equivalent is required
